The AVIC-W8400NEX supports a cable free connection between your smartphone and the receiver using Wi-Fi^® wireless connectivity. Now compatible with both Android Auto Wireless (available on Google Pixel and Nexus devices)¹ and Android Auto over USB, the AVIC-W8400NEX makes it easier than ever to connect. Android Auto¹ makes it easier to access your favorite navigation, media and communication apps on the road while minimizing distractions.

Compatibility with Apple CarPlay supports connecting to an iPhone^® device using either a wireless connection or a wired USB connection.

Android Auto

The AVIC-W8400NEX also features Android Auto which extends the Android platform into the car in a way that’s purpose-built for driving. Android Auto automatically brings you useful information and organizes it into simple cards that appear just when they’re needed. It’s designed to minimize distraction so you can stay focused on the road ahead.

Android Auto is compatible with Android phones running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or later. Android Auto may not be available on all devices and is not available in all countries or regions.

Apple CarPlay

The AVIC-W8400NEX features Apple CarPlay, the smarter, safer and more fun way to use your iPhone® in the car. Apple CarPlay gives iPhone users an incredibly intuitive way to make calls, use Maps, listen to music, and verbally send and listen to messages with just a word or a touch. Apple CarPlay requires iPhone 5 or newer with the latest version of iOS.

Dual Back Up Camera Input Ready^*

Dual Back up Camera inputs enable you to add a reverse (rear facing) camera and front facing camera that can assist with front and rear visibility, towing, or parking.

*Rear visibility systems (backup cameras) are required under federal regulations in certain new vehicles according to a phase-in schedule that began on May 1, 2016. Owners of vehicles equipped with compliant rear visibility systems should not install or use this product in a way that alters or disables that system’s compliance with applicable regulations. If you are unsure whether your vehicle has a rear visibility system subject to these regulations, please contact the vehicle manufacturer or dealer.

With AppRadio Mode +, Pioneer has taken the technology from our revolutionary, game-changing AppRadio and placed it in the AVIC-W8400NEX so you can experience control of compatible apps directly on your dash! When connected to an iPhone 5 or newer, or compatible Android smartphone via USB interface cable and loaded with Pioneer’s free AppRadio application, you can enjoy full on-screen access and control of your contacts, calendar, maps, and more! The intuitive interface is formatted and designed specifically for safer in-vehicle operation.

AppRadioLIVE

AppRadioLIVE pulls content from sources and services with which you may already have accounts with. All you have to do is download the free AppRadioLIVE app and sync your services. All your information saved on those accounts will be pulled into the AppRadioLIVE interface.

Hands-Free Calling and Audio Streaming

Stay safe and obey local hands-free laws with built-in Bluetooth (HFP). Easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the AVIC- W8400NEX without having to go through complicated settings. When a registered Bluetooth device is near the receiver, the auto connection function automatically pairs the two units.

From wireless audio streaming (A2DP profile), hands-free calling, and simple pairing, to audio control and artist, album, and song search (AVRCP profile*), Bluetooth® wireless technology has made life

in the vehicle much more convenient. The AVIC-W8400NEX features Bluetooth Hands Free Profile 1.6 including Wideband Speech capability, which improves the sound quality of phone calls by offering double the frequency bandwidth (when compared to calls without Wideband Speech)**.

With a Pioneer NEX in-dash receiver, sound quality features like built-in Auto EQ and Time Alignment, 13-Band Graphic Equalizer with touch panel swipe settings and built-in high/low pass crossover with adjustable points and slopes provide you with the controls to tailor the listening experience to your vehicle and listening preferences. The CD-MC20 microphone is required for Auto EQ features and is sold separately.

Pioneer's NEX in-dash receivers were the first in the industry to offer playback of files encoded as high-res FLAC up to 192kHz/24 bit and provide playback output at CD quality.
